This comprehensive modernization project consists of the complete interior and exterior renovation of 520 family dwelling units. One of the most striking features of The Herndon is the exterior renovation. Pitched roofs were added, transforming the flat-roofed, barrack-like structures into buildings which now evoke a sense of "home". Facades were cleaned, detailing added and pronounced entries designed to instill pride of place for both The Herndon and the surrounding community.
